Regional IPS Alumni Conference on Identity in a Globalized World took place on October 12-15, 2017 in Kyiv

1The head of International Cooperation and Protocol Section of National Institute for Strategic Studies Svitlana Gootsal, as a former member of “International Parliamentary Scholarships” Program in German Bundestag (IPS) was one of the organizers and active members of the Regional Alumni Conference "Identity in a Globalized World".

The conference took place on October 12-15, 2017 in Kyiv. It was organized by the Club of Ukrainian IPS-Alumni with the support of German Bundestag, German Embassy in Kyiv, Representative Offices of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Friedrich Ebert Foundation and Hans Seidel Foundation. Over 40 participants from 19 countries took part in the conference. The list of participants included of the German side Dr. Lale Akguen (representative of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, publicist, member of Bundestag in 2002-2009) and Stefan-Claudio Lemme (SPD-member of German Bundestag, one of the main Bundestag's rapporteurs for the IPS program).

1The conference lasted for 4 days and included 4 panel discussions. The reports were followed by discussions, and later – by the guided-tour to Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, where the participants had special meetings Ukrainian MPs Hanna Hopko and Sergiy Leshchenko.

Regional conferences are held regularly in the framework of German Bundestag’s support of activities of alumni from different countries. Ukraine has been taking part in the IPS-Program since 2000. Today the IPS-Ukraine Club consists of 88 members (http://ips-ukraine.org/). This conference was the second event, organized by the Ukrainian Club (the first one took place in 2008).
